The base, free
Voice control, from your helmet intercom.
One press on your intercom mic button, one sentence, and VOKPIT takes care of it: your music, your phone, a hazard to report. The answer comes back in your helmet, and your hands stay on the bars.
Free in the base. "Play X", calling by name and dictated texts come with any module.
One button, one sentence
Your intercom mic button opens the VOKPIT assistant whatever your plan: it is never locked. On Android, set VOKPIT once as the default assistant app in your phone settings. Where that choice is not offered, the Assistant tile in the app opens the same assistant. The voice trigger built into some helmets lands in the same place.
No intercom? The app also works with the phone microphone, on the speaker or earphones.
What you can say
- Music: "next", "louder", "mute", "shuffle", "what song is this".
- The app: "open the settings", "night theme".
- A hazard: "report gravel", "report an animal", "report an accident".
- With a module: "play my liked songs", "call Alex", or a text dictated to a contact.
- With the MOTO module: "take me to Lyon", "take me home", "take me to work".
General questions ("what is…", "search for…") are handed to the phone's assistant. A command reserved for a module is still understood: VOKPIT says why it is reserved, never "I didn't understand".
Understood on the phone
Your commands are interpreted on the phone, in four steps: all five hypotheses from speech recognition are read, rules recognise common sentences at once, the names of your contacts, favourites and playlists are matched by similarity and sound, and a small AI model, built into the app, takes over for hard sentences, with no account and no online service (once the terms of use are accepted).
The voice itself is transcribed by the phone's speech recognition service, on the device or on its servers depending on the model. On the Music screen, transcription happens on the device. VOKPIT keeps no recording of your voice (privacy policy).
Your intercom buttons become a remote
On Android, while VOKPIT is on screen, your intercom buttons drive the app: single press for playback, double for the next track, triple to report a hazard at your position, long for the assistant. The press rhythm can be set (quick, normal, slow). With a module, each gesture gets the action you choose.
VOKPIT uses the standard Bluetooth profiles, hands-free and media controls, that motorcycle intercoms use to connect to the phone. On iPhone, the system keeps the helmet buttons for the app that is playing, and the mic button for its own assistant.
Your phone, hands-free
In the base: your favourites one tap away, calls announced in your helmet, texts read aloud.
With a module, you call a contact by name, found despite accents and loose dictation. Only a confident match is kept: calling the wrong person is worse than finding no one. A dictated text is read back in your helmet and only sent after your "yes"; an unclear answer sends nothing. On iPhone, Messages opens with the text ready, and you send it.
The wake word
With a module, saying your word ("VOKPIT" by default, yours to change) opens the assistant without touching a button. It learns your pronunciation in five takes, only listens through the helmet microphone and only while VOKPIT is on screen, never in the background. It is off by default: while it listens, helmet audio drops to phone-call quality, which is how Bluetooth works.
Questions
Is voice control free?
Yes for music, driving the app, your phone (favourites, announced calls, texts read aloud) and hazard reports. "Play X", calling by name, dictated texts, choosing each button's action and the wake word come with any module.
Do I need an intercom?
It is recommended: commands and answers then go through your helmet. Without an intercom, the app uses the phone microphone, and the wake word does not work.
Which languages?
French and English, chosen in the app. Recognition and voice follow the chosen language.
Does VOKPIT record my voice?
No. Your commands are interpreted on the phone, and VOKPIT keeps no recording of your voice.
Do the helmet buttons work on iPhone?
No. On iPhone, the system sends the helmet buttons to the app that is playing and the mic button to its own assistant.
